Homer's Happy Christmas 2010 - Part 2

Yesterday I told you all about the fantastic food I had on Christmas day. Well, that wasn't the only good thing that happened to me... Santa 'Claws' also brought me lots of wonderful presents...

Here I am waiting patiently next to the tree.

Me and my Christmas cards...

...can you see yours? (Thanks again to all of you.)

My Christmas booty.

Can I open them now?

I had to wait forever. Bah humbug!

Missus eventually let me start to open the presents. Unfortunately, I made a bit of a mess of it.

Ta-da! Finally, here they all are opened. Woo hoo! Biscuits, toys and treats galore!

Right, I'm off to eat everything (even the toys). Bye!

Homer's Happy Christmas 2010 - Part 1

Burp! (Oops - sorry). Well, Christmas is now over and what a fantastic time I had. We took so many photos that I'm going to have to split my Christmas story into two blogs.

First of all, let me tell you about the wonderful food I got to eat. We always have turkey for Christmas lunch and this year was no exception. Normally, Missus chooses a bird which weighs at least 7kg. Unfortunately, it was almost impossible to find one of that size here in Italy. So, we had to settle for a turkey weighing a mere 3.5kg!

The 'scrawny' turkey, all prepared, stuffed and ready to go into the oven.

Before putting it into the oven, there was one final ritual which I perform every year without fail - worshipping the 'Turkey God'.

"Hail almighty Turkey God, I worship thee!" Drool...

Whilst the turkey was roasting in the oven, Missus began to prepare the other trimmings...

...such as Dad's all time favourite - Yorkshire puddings.

Unfortunately, Missus did not manage to prepare a full traditional English Christmas lunch because it was not easy to get some of the ingredients here in Italy. She has vowed not to make the same mistake again and will allocate more time for next year's Christmas preparations.

Anyway, she didn't disappoint. My (I mean our) Christmas lunch. Yummy!

I was spellbound by the sumptuous food on the table. The Turkey God was trying to 'seduce' me.

As the saying goes 'The spirit was strong but the body was weak'. Here I am trying to steal some food from the table when the humans weren't watching.

I was trying my best to get hold of that darn bird. Sadly, Missus caught me in the act. As it was Christmas, she let me off the hook with a stern warning.

My Christmas lunch. Turkey, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and carrots. Booti-ful!

After lunch, my humans had a Christmas log cake. I was only allowed to have a small piece.

Oh well folks, that's all for the time being, but watch out for my next blog: Homer's Happy Christmas 2010 - Part 2.

A Tribute to Opy

I am so sad to have learnt that Miss Opy, whose humans established DWB, has passed away and joined her beloved brother Charlie at the other side of the rainbow bridge.

My sincere condolences to Brooke and Greg. My thoughts, and those of my humans, are with you at this difficult time.

Homer's Christmas Card Photoshoot 2010

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!! Christmas is coming! I love Christmas - I get fantastic snow to play in, wonderful presents for being a 'good boy' (sometimes - he-he), lots of attention from my humans and, not to forget, sumptious food to stuff myself with. However, one of my favourite things about Christmas is the exchange of cards I have with my doggie buddies all over the world.

I had a real challenge trying to capture the ideal pose for this year's 'Homer's Christmas Card'. Over the past few years I had set my standards pretty high.

Let me show you some of the 'out-takes' I had to discard before settling on the 'winning' design for this year's card...

Oh-oh! This one wouldn't do for obvious reasons.

The hat was hanging nicely...but look at my 'frosty face'!

Who's a handsome boy? The pose was perfect...but I just couldn't keep that hat on my head a second longer...

...and again.

I was soon sick of the sight of that bloody hat...

...but I just couldn't seem to shake it off!

For a moment, I thought about eating the darn thing, but...

...4,365 attempts later, Missus finally captured the shot which done me justice...

Ta-da. The hat was in place and my face was just...festive!

Having got the shot, Missus set about turning the photo into the traditional Chrictmas card format. Want to see the result...?

Voila! For those who haven't yet received an original version (and those of you who Missus (not me!) forgot to post one to), this one is especially for you.

I would also like to say a big thank you to all those who sent me a card. They are booti-ful and I will treasure them all!

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas to everyone!

SNOW

I love snow. I don't know why but there's something magical and mesmerising about the white powdery stuff which enthrals me. At this time of year, the first thing I do when I wake up each morning is to look out of the window and check whether it has been snowing. Today I was lucky...

...Woo-hoo! Everything was covered in snow!

What's happened to all my prize plants?!?

All this white stuff. What should I do with it?...

...When in doubt, EAT! (That's my motto).

Unfortunately, the white stuff didn't taste as nice as it looked! Bleahhhh...

...and I'm also a bit of a messy eater. Look at my 'frosty face'!

Sorry folks, but I've got to cut short my blogging. I'm off to enjoy my 'winter wonderland'.
Ciao!

O Christmas Tree

Well folks, Christmas is fast approaching and so I decided that it was about time to set up our tree. This was easier said than done...

Here I am reading the instruction manual. Blimey, I didn't realise there were so many parts...

...and so many balls to hang.

Balls, balls, balls! Bollocks! I need a lie down.

Anyway, I quickly got into full swing on building the tree. Man, how am I going to reach the top?

And the darn lights were a bit tricky. Bah humbug!

What a mess!

A few finishing touches and...

...Ta-da! My 'indoor toilet' is finished. Isn't it booti-ful?

Swimming at Lake Garda

A few weeks ago I showed you some photos of my trip to Lake Garda. Well, just for the hell of it, here's a video of me frolicking in the water. Enjoy...

Love,

Homer

PS: Just wondering if you can guess the artist who sang this song?
