A couple of unfortunate events have taken place over the past few weeks.
First of all, my mother was diagnosed with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, which is a very rare and aggressive type of cancer.
As I began to come to terms with my mother’s illness, I received another piece of devastating news. Homer has been diagnosed as having Mast Cell Tumors on his skin.
Boy, it feels like my world has begun to crumble.
So, please excuse me if I haven’t been visiting your blogs. I’m sure you will understand.
Regards,
The Missus

I have absolutely no words to give to you to ease your pain, which must be immense. Don't worry about visiting blogs but please DO keep us informed about both your mother and Homer. I will keep you, and all those you love, close to my heart in prayer.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that Homer has MCT although it is not necessarily a death sentence. River had an MCT tumor removed 2years ago and is cancer free right now. The pattern of the cancer seems to be that it might come back so I check him everyday. You can get a lot of good info and support from the Yahoo group Canine_Mast_Cell_Tumor. Treatments include minimal (benedryl/prednisone/pepcid) to max surgery/chemo. I've used them all. If you would like to talk outside the group please contact me at herself.stephanie@gmail.com The amount of info to go through for this cancer is staggering, overwhelming. The main thing about this cancer is that it releases histamines into the body. You must touch the tumor as little as possible because that releases more histamines. Anyway, I truly wish you the best. There is hope.

ReplyDeleteMy golden, Penny, had mast cell at age 6.
Im in michigan and she received treatment here, but we also consulted with Dr Cheryl London, an authority on mast cell tumor at Ohio State College of Veterinary Med. She was incredibly generous with her time and knowledge, by phone and email.
i hope Homer's diagnosis is low grade.
This is an incredibly challanging time for your family.,
Ive traveled a similar path with my
Mom and with Penny, but not simultaneously, so I understand the huge stress, the need for information, and the daily
strength needed. I hope that this blog community can provide some of that strength for you.
Thoughts, love and prayers for good health, good days.
Karen.

I don't know if it will make a difference, but please find the time to research about turmeric. It's a spice which can help prevent the spread of cancer. Rin is on Turmeric and the cyst in her eye has stopped growing.
