Mango Relentlessly Huge

May 4 2005 - September 26 2012

I am so sad to have learnt today that one of my old friends, Mango – “The Relentlessly Huge”, has crossed the rainbow bridge. Mango was one of us “old-timers” who started blogging around about the same time. He was a special dog who was well-loved by his family. I'm sure his regular readers will know how much laughter he has brought into our lives.

I will miss you big guy.

Love,
Homer

PS: Nancy, thanks for sharing all of Mango’s wonderful adventures with us. V

Pebbles

Hello folks!

You may have noticed that I’ve ‘disappeared’ from Blogland lately. I apologise. As you know, the Missus has been using my blog to post photos of some really wacky looking animals from Africa! (Rumour has it that she’s going to post some more. Good grief!)

Well, I might have been out of sight, but I’ve certainly been keeping myself busy. My biggest news is that I’ve recently got to know this pretty girl-dog who happens to live down my street. Her name is Pebbles and, like me, she’s a booti-ful Golden Retriever.

Meet my new (girl)friend, Pebbles. Hasn’t she got big floppy ears?

Pebbles lives with an old couple whose son (her owner) is currently working overseas. Unfortunately, because of their age, her new caregivers aren’t able to take her for walkies as often as they’d like. So, Me, Dad and the Missus have recently taken to bringing Pebbles along with us when we go for our regular walks.

Here’s some pictures of Pebbles joining one of our ‘walkies rituals’…

As I approach Pebbles’ house, I’m always wondering to myself, “Is she going to be there?”

There she is, always waiting at the front gate for Yours Truly.

How can anyone resist such googly eyes! Awww…

Unable to conceal her excitement, she often wriggles her pretty head through the gate, with her tail thumping hard on the ground. I hope her head doesn’t get stuck one day!

Nonchalantly, I swagger towards her and whisper sweet nothings into her ear. Sorry guys, I am not going to reveal what I say – IT’S PRIVATE! Heheheh.

The Missus puts on Pebble’s leash and we’re soon off for one of our regular walks! Arooo rooo rooo!

Even though we are now getting familiar with each other, I can’t help but feel a bit nervous - it’s been so long since I’ve been dating! (Remember Lucille, the Great Dane from Italy?

My experience tells me that I have to give an air of calm and confidence when we walk together…

…but inside, my heart is beating frantically! I try my utmost not to show a hint of excitement when we get too close. ‘Gasp’!

I even play hard to get when she tries to kiss me. I always regret it later though. D’oh!

Anyway, we enjoy sniffing around and exploring our neighbourhood together…

…and occasionally stopping for a photo-opportunity.

Mind you, it’s not easy taking photos of Pebbles and Yours Truly sitting still and not fidgeting. Especially Pebbles, gosh, she’s EVERYWHERE!

See what I mean? She can’t keep still! Argh!

She’s even worse when we’re walking. I go one way and Pebbles heads in the opposite direction. Poor Dad – he doesn’t know whether we’re coming or going!

To keep the peace, I usually just let Pebbles lead the way.

Occasionally, we get out acts together and Dad has an easier time.

Our walks usually end with a stroll in the local park.

This gives the Missus one last opportunity to get a photo of us looking straight at the camera…

…but not this time!

Well, after a thousand takes, she finally managed to get a good picture of the two of us behaving for the camera…

Ta-da. Aren’t we a lovely couple?

Alright folks. Wish me luck on my blossoming ‘boyfriend/girlfriend’ relationship with Pebbles. I’ll keep you guys posted.

Woof!
