A New Year's Walk in the Countryside

Happy New Year to everybody! I hope your 2011 will be filled with happiness!

Recently my humans have discovered a countryside walk, not far from our home, where they can finally take me for a walk off-leash.

To kick-start the New Year, we all went out today for a nice long stroll. Here's some pictures which Missus captured on the way...

This is me and dad at the starting point, all ready to go.

I set-off, eager to explore the joys of the Italian countryside...

...which is filled with lots of interesting smells!

For most of my walk was there wasn't a single soul in sight. I loved every minute of it!

I went this way...

...and that way...

...and I even stopped occasionally to catch the wind!

To make sure that my Dad didn't abandon me, I always checked to make sure that he wasn't too far behind.

Close enough! I could wander around at ease!

Occasionally I strayed too far away for Dad's liking. (Can you spot me?)

But he always managed to tempt me back...

... with a treat!

Yummy!

'Sigh' What bliss!

Got to go now. Time for more exploring.

See you!

Homer, you are such a lucky pup to have such great places to go for your walks AND to be off leash. Mom says we can't be trusted to ever be off leash even with the tastiest of treats. Happy exploring and Happy New Year!

How lucky to have off-leash running! Dad will never let you out of his site- Dads are smart that way.
Homer, can you describe your harness to us? I like it!

That looks like a great walk Homer, and I'm like you - I like to stop, when I run ahead, and check my humans are OK with me running free, before running off again. I've also trained my humans that the second command after "Riley come" that never fails to get me to return quickly to them is "Riley food".

Have a Happy New Year,
Woofs,
Riley

Hi Homer! Thanks for dropping by our new blog! It's very nice to meet you! Wowzers, you've been to more countries than our mom! Your walk looked very fun today. We get to walk off-leash too, because we're very good at the 'return.' Especially since Mom only walks one of us at a time...hehehe.

We have to tell you that we are very jelous of your New Years Eve feast. It looks very similar to what our humans ate, but we only got some scraps!! Sheesh...

Well, we'll be back to visit!

-ciao

Happy New Year, Homer! Looks like you had a wonderful feast, although we wonder how your mom would feel about eating cold food if she had to wait hours and hours after her food was put in front of her before she was allowed to taste it. We often think if people would just walk a few miles in our pawprints, they would be more considerate! Looks like you had a wonderful walk. We NEVER get off leash outside our fenced yard, but we aren't as well behaved as you are.

You are a handsome pup, Homer! ...and very lucky to go for a walk like that. Good thing you kept an eye out on your Dad - they tend to wander off!
