Christmas 2015

It’s been a long time since I blogged and I apologise for my lack of communication. The Missus has been very busy and I have been busy too - I will explain more in my next posting.

Anyway, I’ve attached a copy of my special Christmas Card featuring a photo of Yours Truly. I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of my doggie friends who have sent me Christmas Cards this year. They are lovely and I have enjoyed looking at each and every one of them.

Woof.

Homer's Tenth Barkday - The Cake Carnage

Today is Homer’s Birthday. He is ten years old.

Every year, without fail, I bake my beloved little boy a cake. This year was no exception. I lovingly prepared a heart-shaped oatmeal/carrot/minced chicken concoction which symbolised my unwavering love to my faithful pooch. The cake was decorated with ‘look-a-like’ white marzipan, sprinkled with bacon bits and finished with smoked sausage slices trimming the outside.

I wanted to take a photo of Homer and Savannah posing nicely with my ‘masterpiece’. So, I had everything set-up perfectly, ready to capture the moment.

Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan. The minute I put the damned cake on the floor next to my kids, both of them ‘dived-in’. Savannah managed to grab some bacon and Homer…sigh…Homer scoffed the entire top layer. So, sorry folks, no pretty photos of my two angels and my booti-ful creation. Instead, all I was left with was this shot of the two of them, after Bill had managed to ‘rescue’ what was left…

And then the aftermath…

I’m sure the two of them are in cahoots to ruin my best-intentioned photo shoot.

Happy Birthday my dearest Homer.

Love,

The Missus

Some updates

Woof folks!

Hope you are all doing well.

I’m sorry I didn’t post anything on my blog during last month. As usual, we have all been very busy. Well, let me explain.

First of all, my baby sister, Savannah, who is now ten months old (how time flies!) is becoming a bit of a handful.

The ‘trouble’ began once she learnt the ‘art-of-crawling’ at the age of nine months. Ever since she made that ‘discovery’, it has become almost a full-time job just overseeing her little ‘explorations’. We have all been busy keeping an eye on the little terror, making sure that she doesn’t get into any mischief. Let me tell you, it’s not easy for an old dog like myself to keep up with her shenanigans!

Secondly, sometime earlier this year, the Missus took up the role of newsletter editor for a certain expat club in Pattaya, Thailand. For the last few months, she has been busy attending committee meetings and social events, as well as meeting all of her deadlines. Despite her erratic schedule, she still manages to find time enough for me and my little sister. But, unfortunately, not for my blog!

Lastly, we have been making a number of trips to the vet lately. The last visit was a few nights ago when we went to see an oncologist in Bangkok. Not so good news; my Mast Cell Tumors (MCT) are back. This time I have at least four, perhaps five, tumors. The oncologist said that the disease is currently at stage 3; 1 being the earliest stage and 4 representing the most severe condition. I am scheduled to go for surgery to remove the lumps in two weeks time. Fingers, paws and tails crossed.

Anyway, the Missus has taken some photos of my little sister, Savannah, and myself (see below). She may be a little terror but I still love her to bits.

Tomorrow is my tenth barkday. YAY! I’m looking forward to celebrating my special day with Savannah. It is going to be my first barkday celebration with her. Hopefully, the first of many more to come.

Love,

Homer

Hanging Out With My Little Sister

A couple of weeks ago, the Missus took some photos of myself and my adorable little sister, Savannah. Here are some of the best pictures from our photoshoot.

Savannah had never been on one of the Missus’ demanding photograph sessions before and she didn’t know what to expect. She was looking to me for advice.

I told her to watch how I psyche myself up…

…and then snap into my ‘perfect’ pose.

Wow! She was very impressed at my modelling skills.

To make her comfortable, we started-off with a ‘holding hands (paws)’ shot. Unfortunately, neither of us were ‘at our best’…

…but at the second attempt, we were getting a little bit better.

As the Missus kept asking us to be more enthusiastic, Savannah really made an effort…

…and before long, she was fully ‘in the mood’

Savannah: “YAY! Homer!”

As usual, all of these posing exertions started to take their toll on me and I was soon yawning at the camera.

Little Savannah did her best to keep me awake, but once she knew I was nodding off…

She just snuggled-up to join me.

I love my little sister. I look forward many more photoshoots with her.

Love,
Homer

Homer's Health Update

Woof everyone.

Here’s a quick update on my health condition. For those of you who are not aware, a few weeks ago I suffered a fracture on my right fore leg and my left fore elbow was diagnosed as being inflamed. So, ever since then, I have been strapped up with a plaster cast and have been taking medication to reduce the inflammation.

Anyway, I was back at the vet a week ago and had my X-rays taken again. My fracture showed signs of improvement and I was given the ‘green light’ to have my cast removed. My joint inflammation had subsided but the vet still prescribed medication just to keep the condition in check.

However, I do have some unpleasant news to share on my health condition:

- Whilst having my X-ray taken, the vet noticed that my neck was not moving properly and suspected that I might be in pain.

- Even though I have had my cast removed, the X-ray results showed that there was some bone proliferation on the fracture itself.

- Lastly, my humans found another lump located on my inner right fore leg armpit. The vet took an aspirate and the results indicated a Mast Cell Tumour. In other words, my cancer is back.

We will be heading to Bangkok to speak to the neurologist on my neck condition; the orthopaedist on my fracture and the oncologist on my Mast Cell Tumour.

I am still eating well; my toilet habits are excellent and I am in good spirits. However, I am not allowed to partake in strenuous exercises and I can’t spring around like a gazelle for the time being.

Anyway, here’s a photo of me taken a few weeks ago before the plaster cast was removed. I told the staff that I preferred any colour other than pink. Fortunately, they gave me blue. What a relief.

Love,
Homer

Another Trip to the Vet.

Woof everyone. I hope you are all keeping well.

I know I keep bringing bad news to you and I hate to do that. Oh well. Here’s a little bit more.

Recently, my humans were noticing that my gait wasn’t quite ‘normal’. I used to walk like John Wayne, but something must have happened, resulted in me walking in a different way. The change wasn’t so alarming until the past couple of days when I started to limp badly. So, off I went for another trip to the veterinary.

Once there, I was given a thorough check-up and had some x-rays taken. The results showed that my right fore-leg had a fracture and my left fore-elbow was inflamed. We don’t know what caused the fracture but the vet said that the inflammation was due to “old age”. (“Excuse me? Who are you calling old?”)

Here are some photos of me at the vet’s seeking treatment.

Once she had diagnosed the problem, the doctor had to put a cast on my right fore-leg.

If you remember, I used to get pretty lady nurses to fuss around me on my previous visits to the vet. However, this time it was a bit different…

…I GOT A BOY NURSE! Where are all the pretty girls that used to tend to me? Urgh!

Oh well, I guess it doesn’t matter. I love girl nurses, boy nurses, girl dogs, boy dogs…whatever. In short, I’m a ‘try’sexual; I’ll try anything!

Anyway, back to the matter in hand (or paw). The vet soon had me bandaged like a mummy.

Once the plaster cast was finished, the pretty doctor cut a bit of an opening so that I would feel more comfortable.

Then, I got a shock. The finishing touch was in HOT PINK! Nooooooo…

As you know, pink is not my favourite colour. I have had a bad experience with it previously. You can find out more about it here.

While all of my administrations were going on, Dad was sitting in the background; sniggering at Yours Truly getting bandaged in pink.

But Dad’s really not that evil. Here he is, giving me nice strokies while I was getting treated.

Actually, I don’t look too bad in pink. What do you think?

So, my right fore-leg will now to be strapped up with a plaster cast for the next 2 to 3 weeks. Ho-hum! It’s not so bad. Anybody want to come and sign it?

Anyway, I was given some anti-inflammation medicine and I have to go back to the vet’s in a week’s time to change my dressing. I’ll let you all know once I’m fully recovered and springing around again.

Bye for now.

Love,
Homer

New Year, New Guest

I meant to blog about a few things some time ago but I have been so busy over the festive season that I completely forgot about it!

First of all, here’s another snapshot of the Christmas cards that I’ve received from many friends around the world. Some of them had lovely messages written inside. Thank you all very much. They are booti-ful and I love them all!

My collection of Christmas card 2014.

Secondly, can you remember my grandma from England? You know, she previously came to visit me in China, Holland and Italy?

Well, I recently told her that we had all moved to ‘PieLand’. Knowing that she loves her pies tremendously, I erm, kind of told her that we can get lots of pies here. She was ecstatic, of course, and guess what? She showed up at my front door the very next day! WOW!

She didn’t get any pies but she was thrilled to see Yours Truly and my baby sister, Savannah. ☺

Here’s a snapshot of the three of us together.

Myself, my little sister and my grandma.
Finally, I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a fantastic 2015. I know we’re almost into February, well, it’s better to be late than never!

Love,
Homer
