Update and Thank You

Woof! Woof!

Sorry I haven’t been blogging much lately. As the Missus mentioned in my previous posting, we have been dealing with a couple of ‘crises’. Unfortunately, I have been diagnosed as having Mast Cell Tumours.

Over the past few weeks, I have received a huge outpouring of supportive emails and messages on my blog and on my Facebook from you guys. I am very touched and would like to bark a big thanks to all of you for extending such wonderful friendship during this difficult time.

Despite my health condition, I’m actually doing fine! Dad has commented that I still behave like a crazy puppy: demanding lots of attention, long walkies and plenty of treats! I don’t feel ‘sick’ at all and my appetite remains ‘ravenous’!

So far, the Missus has found three Mast Cell Tumours on my body. The first one was found on my hind leg and the vet has operated to cut it away. I have one on my right shoulder blade and another right next to my paw pad.

In order for my humans to be absolutely sure that they had found all of the potential tumours, they had to shave my booti-ful locks off.

I feel so naked!

This is the site of the first tumour we found on my hind leg. You can see the scar tissue where the vet has operated.

This is a small tumour on my right shoulder blade.

And this is the third tumour near to my left front paw pad. The vets tell me that this is the ‘trickiest’ part to treat.

Here’s a picture showing where each of the tumours are in less detail.

OK. Now I shall leave you with a cute picture of me.

‘Bald’ is the new ‘Sexy’!

I’ll tell you a little about my treatment in my next blog.

Bye for now.

That was a great idea getting shaved but tough on the ego. Here are some of the things I've used for the MCT. Mostly my mom has used prednisone (5mg)/benedryl/pepcid. MCT is all about histamines--pepcid is an H2 blocker as well as antacid.

Specifically for the Cancer:
***JING TANG's Stasis Breaker, Max's Formula and Wei Qi Booster. The 3 prescribed Chinese Meds.

***We also added the K9 Immunity which helped boost his immune system. (if you buy the trio, it also contains the fish oil capsules, the K9 immunity which is composed of mushroom extracts...a very potent cancer cell killer and the transfer factor which acts like a immune booster.).

***Probiotics/Digestive enzymes. Bertie's Immune Blend sounds pretty good.

***The most important: Colostrum and the Detox Drops

***On occasion I would add Turmeric (which really targets stomach cancers but still good to use for any cancer).

Oh Homer, naked is the new sexy indeed! Glad the tumors have been removed and that you are feeling ok. We have been thinking about you!

Oh Homer boy, you're still sexy as ever. I am just glad that you're doing ok. My Josie was found icy-cold with pale-white gums and tongue by my sister on the 1st night of CNY and we found out (from a biopsy we received much later) that she has splenic hemangiosarcoma. Her tumour was 7cm big and was removed instantly. Because she needs her spleen to filter and protect her from ticks, she's now staying indoors and so far she's looking good. Fingers crossed! I would introduce you to her but she's too old for you! Tummy rub sexy boy.

Hi Homer
Nelson here. I to have had a mass cell tumor removed from my side 2 years ago. It came back as a grade 1 level. Tell your mom to try not to worry. Sending you Power of the Paw and hugs.

Hi Homer,

You could never loose your good looks, even though you do look a bit like a lab, but if being shaved means that the vet finds all your lumps, and fixes you then it is a good thing.

I am guessing the new fur style is cooler for you in the Singapore heat, but did the Missus save your shaved fur to knit you a Golden Retriever jumper for when it gets cold? Our human looks at all the Golden fur Enzo and I leave lying around the house and sighs.

Please thank your Missus as your post has reminded her how important it is to regularly feel under our fur, and we have been enjoying the extra attention.

Wishing you all the best,

Love and woofs,
Riley

So good to hear from you, sweet boy!
We also used prevacid, in addition to chemotherapy,
also switched to Orijen food that was Fish only, no carbohydrates, because the dr. said the sugars in carbs feed tumor cells, and the fish had the anti-inflammatory omega fatty acids. also used ground tumeric, an anti-inflammatory, I added it to her food. I gave all her oral meds with peanut butter, which made that part easy.
Well wishes, prayers. such a dear one, you are

hugs too, xxooo
