Scrap Award

Oh no, I’ve been tagged again! (This time by Luna). The last time this happened, I ended up in a a bit of a fix.

Thankfully, this time Missus doesn’t have to get involved. In fact, all I have to do is list ten honest things about myself. That’s easy:

· I’m always obedient.

· I never scoff my food.

· I’ve never farted in my life…

…Oh! You mean I’m supposed to be really honest? Oh well, I’m not one for giving my secrets away but, in the spirit of the tag, here’s a list of my most serious ‘crimes’:

1. As the introduction to my blog says: when it comes to food, I'm immoral. I’ll do anything for food.

2. Much to my humans’ frustration, I can’t stop pulling on my leash. I can’t help it, I just get so excited when I’m out and about. Especially if I see other dogs.

3. I’m a womanizer. I have so many girls ‘on the go’. You can check this out here and here . Unfortunately, this sometimes get me into trouble. See what I mean .

4. When it comes to the “recall” command, I have very ‘selective hearing’. Not to worry, I usually get it at the tenth attempt!

5. I have been known to indulge in indecent exposure...

6. I’m an international jet setter. But I hate travelling. How come I never get to go business class?

7. I’m a coward when it comes to small dogs. They always bully me. (You don’t believe me? Have a look here and here ).

8. I once stole some food from my Dad. However, I was only a puppy then and I would never do that now….I think. (See ‘confession’ No. 1 above).

9. I’m a peeping tom.

10. Even though I’m a golden retriever, I don’t know the meaning of the word ‘retrieve’. My humans throw something, I go and get it and so it’s mine. Simple as that!

Anyway, enough about my honesty. Here’s the full description of the tag. It’s called the ‘Scrap Award’ and it goes like this:

"When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to said person so everyone knows he or she is real. Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have 7 friends. Show the 7 random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Weblog”. List at least ten honest things about yourself. Then, pass it on!"

I’m glad to say I have got at least seven friends. So, I am going to pass this award on to:

1. Pipa (I’ve not seen you around for ages. Where are you?)

2. The Bumpass Hounds (As there’re at least nine of you, I’m expecting at least ninety confessions! Evil laughter: Muah…ha…ha…ha…)

3. Dino

4. Life with Dogs

5. The Hudson Furkids

6. Amber Mae

7. MJ

Have a good weekend everybody.

Spencer and Lemon

I have a heavy heart today. I have just found out that two of my good pals, Spencer the golden retriever and Lemon the cat, have sadly passed away.

I want to take this opportunity to pay a special tribute to Spencer and Lemon. Run free my friends. We are going to miss you!

To Spencer’s and Lemon’s humans – we are thinking of you. Please take good care of yourself.

Love,

Homer and family

My Valentine Nirvana

As you know, last Saturday was Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately, instead of spending a romantic day with me, my humans decided to go away (again!) for the weekend. Fortunately, this meant that I would have to stay with Amy again. Even more fortunately, it turned out that there were two other booti-ful ladies living at Amy’s place. What a result! I got to spend Valentine’s weekend with three babes!

Let me introduce you to my three ‘Valentines’.

This is Indy, a three year old golden retriever. She took an instant shine to me.

Here’s Noah, a seven year old chocolate labrador. You may think she is a bit old for me, but I have a thing about mature women!

And of course, here’s Amy, the booti-ful young girl who was my first date in the Netherlands.

This is me introducing myself to the girls. “Hello ladies!”

We were soon playing games together.

As you can see, Noah wasn’t quite as enthusiastic as the rest of us.

I, however, was over the moon to be the center of attention...

Fortunately, Amy and Indy seemed to be quite keen on me. (I can’t say the same for Noah).

As you can imagine, I had a fantastic weekend with the girls and we had some great times together. To give you an idea, here’s a lovely video made by Amy’s mum...

A very special thank you to Amy's mum for the wonderful video.

Amsterdam

Remember I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was going on holiday to Amsterdam? Unfortunately, I’ve been ‘a bit tied up’ lately (thanks Missus!). So, I’ve only just got the opportunity to share some of my holiday snaps with you. Enjoy...

This is me ready for the off.

Following a one-hour drive, we finally reached the hotel in Amsterdam. Man, I was exhausted from the journey.

However, I soon perked up. Right, where are we going first?

We soon hit the town with a leisurely walk along Amsterdam’s many canals .

Some of the houses were booti-ful.

Of course, Missus made me stop occasionally for some photo-opportunities.

Holland is famous for its flowers and we passed through Amsterdam’s main flower market.

I stopped by to take a sniff.

Missus made sure that we ventured down one of Amsterdam’s main shopping streets. Unfortunately Dad lost his way!

Then we ended up in ‘Dam Square’.

They sure have big dogs in Amsterdam. Look at the size of those brown ones behind me!

I managed to sit calmly for this photo. In reality I was terrified of those big dogs.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to visit Amsterdam’s famed Red Light District.

Not to be deterred, I’ve made my own video in honour of the special character of Amsterdam. Of course there is the Red Light District and it’s sex trade. There are hundreds of Coffee Shops in which you can easily buy soft drugs. And, there are numerous restaurants selling all of my favourite foods. So, I’ve called the video: “Sex, Drugs and Sausage Rolls.”

Anyway, I really enjoyed my holiday and can’t wait to go away again.

Missus

Missus is trying to hijack my blog. Help……….

Yours truly. Bound and gagged.*

Right, this is Missus. Now that Homer is out of the way, I need to say a few things. I have been tagged by 'Simona (Paco and Milo's mum)' and 'Carla (Pipa's mum)' to list 40 things about myself.

This was one of the hardest tasks I’ve ever been set. More taxing than my worst ever job interview.

Anyway, I managed to come up with 40. Here goes.

1. I was born in Singapore in 1979 and I have just turned 30.

2. I was brought up mainly by my grandparents whom I loved dearly and miss terribly.

3. I’m independent and resourceful…

4. …but obsessively tidy and organized.

5. I don’t drink and I don’t smoke, but I do have plenty of other vices :) …

6. …for instance, I love food – especially sinful stuff like chocolate.

7. I’m a bit of an introvert and I don’t like parties.

8. Despite the fact that I’m from Singapore, I much prefer cold weather.

9. I love my husband. He is the pillar of my strength and he is so kind, patient, witty and charming…

10. … although he sometimes drives me crazy.

11. We used to be colleagues. That’s how we met.

12. We got married in Singapore at Raffles Hotel. It was a wonderful occasion.

13. I feel that I should want children…but my biological clock isn't ticking yet.

14. I have a degree in Public Relations, although I’ve only briefly worked in this field.

15. My previous jobs have included secretarial work, events management and public relations.

16. My last job, before I left Singapore, was in corporate communications with a Swiss bank…

17. …I am now effectively ‘retired’. For the past few years, I’ve travelled around to suit my husband’s job location.

18. However, I still harbor ambitions to return to work in the private banking sector.

19. I love dogs. Big dogs. Small dogs. All dogs.

20. I love Homer with all my heart. I almost named him ‘Vito’ after the lead character from ‘The Godfather’.

21. I like to go to dog shows, especially Crufts which I’ve attended for the last few years.

22. I love doggy blogs. (Homer sometimes lets me help out with his!). They are so interesting and it’s nice to know that there are other crazy dog lovers out there.

23. I love travelling and exploring different countries/cities. Rome and Luxor (Egypt) have been my favorites so far.

24. As well as Singapore, I have also spent long periods living in South Korea, China and now the Netherlands.

25. The Netherlands has been great so far. It’s a very dog friendly country… need I say more!

26. I’ve recently started to enjoy spending time in museums. The Louvre and the Vatican museums were booti-ful.

27. I speak fluent English and Mandarin and would love to learn Spanish.

28. I am an avid reader...but mostly of ‘trivia’. (Dog magazines, women’s magazines, etc.).

29. My favourite TV shows are the Simpsons (of course), Family Guy, Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives. I also have a soft spot for British comedy.

30. I am keen on cooking and baking...but only for me and my husband (and Homer).

31. I would love to take up ballroom dancing, but I can’t get my husband to ‘play ball’.

32. Like many women, I’m a shopaholic.

33. Don’t remind my husband, but I have a weakness for the luxuries in life. For example, I love fine jewellery and designer shoes. My favourites are Louboutin and Manolo.

34. My latest hobby is photography. I’m getting better…

35. I spend (too many) hours on the Internet every day.

36. For the first time, I have a house with a garden. Come the summer, I intend to develop some ‘green fingers’. First task is my favourite herb: rosemary.

37. I’m forever putting off learning to drive. One of these days…

38. My favourite color is green.

39. My favourite pastime of all is…sleeping. ZZZZzzzzzzz…

40. Lastly, I’m a sadist. Yep, my mind can be very twisted. That’s why I’m going to pass this tag on. (Evil laughter: Muah HA HA HA HA)

The (un)lucky recipients are:

'The Bumpass Hounds' Mum/Dad (reveal yourself!)

Sorry guys. Good luck!
